Bromley Guitar Society
For Classical Guitar Players
Who We Are
We are a friendly group of guitar players meeting once a month in Bromley, Kent, at St Marks Church Hall where we have access to a kitchen for refreshments of coffee, tea and biscuits.
Membership is open to all classical or acoustic guitar players over the age of 18, who can read basic music notation and play to a basic level.
To cover our costs, we ask members to pay subscriptions of £25 per half-year. Visitors who do not want to join straightaway or only wish to play occasionally pay £5 per visit after the first time. Young players still in education pay only £10 per half-year.
Where We Meet
We meet every third Saturday of the month at St Marks Church Hall, just opposite the Bromley South Railway Station (map right). The times are 6.30pm to 9.30pm. There is limited parking on-site, but parking spaces are available on the two roads either side of the church, with free parking after 6.30pm.
What We Do
Ensemble
Our main focus is on ensemble playing of a variety of music from Renaissance to modern arrangements of popular music often from film or stage musical.
Solo
We set aside time in the evening for solos and encourage members to play something of their own choosing.
Festivals
We attend local Music Festivals and we are a member of the Federation of Guitar Societies, usually meeting with others in the summer.
